So why is it that so many bodybuilders take protein shakes? Well, it is used for the production of muscles. Also used to manufacture hormones, enzymes, cellular messengers, nucleic acids, and immune-system components. Without adequate protein, our bodies can’t put together the structures that make up every cell, tissue, and organ, nor can it generate the biochemical substances needed for cardiovascular function, muscle contraction, growth, and healing. Without an adequate amount of protein our muscles wouldn’t heal up as quickly and could therefore lead to over training your muscle which could lead to injury.
Protien-Improved Muscle Strength
Because it will increases muscle protein synthesis after exercise, it can help promote increases in strength. Resistance training causes microscopic trauma in your muscles, and consuming it after your workouts can help your body repair your muscles and adapt to training by increasing strength. According to research from the October 2006 issue of the “International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism,” consumption it after exercise significantly improved strength gains.
Muscle Mass Growth
Consuming it after your workout is important for increasing the size of your muscles. According to research from the April 2005 issue of the “Journal of the American College of Nutrition,” consumption of milk-based is more effective than consumption of soy-based for improving muscle growth.
Reduction of Body Fat
In addition to aiding in muscular recovery, it may help you lose weight when you consume it in conjunction with resistance exercise. A study published in the October 2009 issue of “Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases” found that increased protein daily protein intake and exercise resulted in increased fat and weight loss compared to exercise alone.
While working out with weights can help you build muscle, your results will be far from optimal if you do not follow proper nutritional procedures. Fitness and nutrition researcher Dr. John Berardi says post-workout eating is the most important aspect of fitness nutrition and explains that protein is of primary importance. It supplies your body with structural components known as amino acids, which are vital to improving your body composition.
Also, after a workout is one of the best time to get it into the body so that the protein can be delivered to your muscles, to begin healing the “micro tears” (very small tears in the muscle tissue, caused by intense contraction of the muscle during workout) in the muscle.
Because solid food takes more time to digest and to break down the it and send it to the muscles, it can be best to take a protein shake immediately following a workout, since it only take about 30 minutes to reach the muscle after ingestion. Definitely, we can see the advantage to taking it in this instance.
Regardless of your goals, it should be regarded as a foundation nutrient of any nutrition program ; it’s an essential ingredient for achieving optimal progress in physique enhancement and performance. It’s certainly no secret that any person who is generally active in sports and/or trains with weights or other resistance will benefit from getting enough protein. Many enjoy the anti-aging effects that a high protein diet can result in. But the only way to find out how beneficial it can be for you, is to try it for yourself!
